MH-53 Sea Dragon  

미국 해군과 해병대가 사용하는 수륙양용의 헬리콥터.

 

시 드래곤(Sea Dragon)이라고도 한다. 미국 해군과 해병대가 사용하는 가장 크고 힘이 좋은 헬리콥터로서, 시코르스키항공(Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation)에서 생산했으며, 세 개의 제너럴일렉트릭 T64-GE-416엔진을 장착했다. 주요 임무는 지뢰제거, 지뢰무력화, 지뢰탐지, 부유지뢰 파괴, 경로확보, 배와 비행기의 육상 예인 등을 포함한 공중지뢰대책(AMCA: Airborne Mine Countermeasures)이다.

몸체에 7개의 회전날개를, 꼬리에 4개의 회전날개를 갖추어 비상시 수중작전을 할 수 있도록 설계되었으며, 탑재량 16톤인 상태에서 50해리를 운항하고, 10톤인 상태에서 500해리를 운항할 수 있다. 또한 항공모함 갑판에서 파손된 비행기를 철거하는 것을 돕기 위해, 배 위에서 수직으로 사람과 장비 등을 보급할 수 있다.

지뢰제거의 임무 외에도 화물과 장비 및 승객을 수송하며, 부상자 후송을 위해서는 최대 55명의 인원과 24개의 병상을 수송할 수 있다. 1983년 6대가 지뢰제거를 위해 처음으로 서유럽에 배치되었고, 페르시아만에서 광범위한 합동지뢰제거운동에 3,300시간 참여했다.

전체 길이 30m, 동체 길이 22.3m, 높이 8.53m이다. 무게는 화물 적재시 33,340kg이고, 화물 비적재시 16,671kg이다. 항속거리는 274.24km이며,

최고속도 SPEED: MH-53E, maximum, 161 knots노트이다. 상승한계는 수평비행일 때 8,500m이고, 공중정지일 때는 5,060m이다. 필요 승무원은 3명이다.
